Recorded live on December 7th, 2011 at St. Leonards Shoreditch Church, Hackney, London by Francois Carrier.
"Three masters of improvisation in a perfect setting!! These improvisations were played on a calm and beautiful autumnal evening in winter. It is the complete set from this trio's live performance, which took place in the extraordinary space of St leopards Shoreditch Church in Hackney, London in Dec 2011 This was the first time we had played together as a trio. The seeds, it seems, had been sewn right here!"-FMR

Back in France at the age of 10, I was seized by a compulsive desire of music, listening to many sorts of music, and especially free jazz, to the great displeasure of my brothers who never appreciated Cecil Taylor for breakfast. I was dreaming about bass playing but started studying philosophy. By the whims of fate, I saw a double bass at a friend's flat. A few weeks after, I was studying at the Paris Conservatoire and having private jazz lessons. It was ages ago. I gave my first improvised bass solo in 2003 (not without apprehension !) I have played with many artists of the French improv' scene, including Heddy Boubaker, Nusch Werchowska, Isabelle Duthoit, Alexandre Kittel, Catherine Jauniaux, Jean Pallandre, Mathias Pontévia, Etienne Brunet, Soizic Lebrat, Sébastien Coste, etc. I have also organised many concerts in Lyon where I lived from 2000 to 2007." ^ Hide Bio for Guillaume Viltard • Show Bio for Daniel Thompson "Daniel was born in Norfolk, England. Largely self-taught, after moving to London in 2005 Daniel embarked upon a life changing period. He studied with the guitarist John Russell for two years, spent many evenings listening to the trio of John Edwards, Tony Marsh and Evan Parker at The Vortex in East London and absorbed the free improvisation scene in and around LONDON. collectively this confirmed his musical direction. AS WELL AS Performing at many venues and festivals across the UK and Europe Daniel has ALSO been organising concerts since 2007. WITH BENEDICT TAYLOR HE organised 'the SHOREDITCH CHURCH SERIES' in LONDON DURING THE YEARS 2010 to 2013. FROM 2013 to 2016 DANIEL ORGANISED THE monthly 'Foley Street improvised music concert series' in London's west end. Daniel is the founder and artistic director of 'empty birdcage records', a label dedicated to releasing documents of free improvisation. You WILL HEAR AND SEE DANIEL performING solo, with other musicians in many ad-hoc improvising situations and in long-term collaborations or "working groups'. Recent collaborations will have heard and seen Daniel performing and or recording with Neil Metcalfe, Steve Noble, Caroline Kraabel, MAX REED, JOHN EDWARDS, Benedict Taylor, Tom Jackson, Vid Drasler, EVAN PARKER, Adam Bohman, SUE LYNCH, Alex Ward, KAY GRANT, Roland Ramanan, Adrian Northover, Marcello Magliocchi, ALAN WILKINSON, colin webster amongst others. Daniel's music can be heard on recorded documents." ^ Hide Bio for Daniel Thompson
