A series of unusual compositions originally written by Jacques Demmiere and Vincent Barras, here reworked by Demmiere and violinist Anouck Genthon, each piece focusing on sounds, breaths, frictions, silences, vowels and consonants, weaving and complementing each other through a mix of traditional, extended and unconventional techniques; fascinating.

"Original compositions by Demierre and Barras reworked by Demierre and Genthon.
Jacques Demierre and Anouck Genthon's duo work is poetic and musical.
They perform pieces influenced by European experimental sound poetry and by the vocal and instrumental poetic tuareg tradition.
Both voice and violin draw on the poetic expression of speech and on the sung poetry with the accompaniment of the anzad ( tuareg one string fiddle from the Niger ).
Together they play a heterophonic soundscape of voice and strings, an intense and clear interweaving verbal and musical stuff, where sounds, breaths, frictions, silences, vowels and consonants trace their own way."-Confront
Artist Biographies
• Show Bio for Jacques Demierre "The pianist and composer Jacques Demierre was born in 1954 in Geneva. His musical itinerary is varied: improvisation, jazz contemporary music. As a composer, he is mainly self-taught. He writes for concert use, for the stage and for modern dance. He has received commissions for both jazz and contemporary music. The recording by singer Magali Schwartz of three pieces inspired by her voice is testimony to a rare artistic experience. Je deviendrai Médée, Désir d'azur: musique de danse and Bleu are the results of an intense collaboration which began in 1985-86 and, via vocal and instrumental improvisation, gradually led to a kind of common vocal territory, a veritable research laboratory which produced compositions as well as new ideas for vocal experimentation." ^ Hide Bio for Jacques Demierre • Show Bio for Anouck Genthon "Anouck Genthon is a French violinist and ethnomusicologist involved in the improvised music scene in an approach particularly sensitive to sound. Enriched by her double stance as musician and researcher, she guides her ear by improvised gestures through the surrounding sound-environment." ^ Hide Bio for Anouck Genthon • Show Bio for Vincent Barras "Vincent Barras, born November 8, 1956, is a doctor, historian and performer.
