"Wandelweiser composer Craig Shepard makes music related to stillness and designs silent walks. He grew up in Connecticut, where he went for long walks in the middle of snowy nights, stopping to listen to the sheen of millions of snowflakes coming to rest.

Recent projects include Broken Silence, in which music supports listeners engaging with text from the scandal in the Catholic Church, On Foot: Aubervilliers, a twenty-four day residency in which Shepard lead groups in silent walks lasting three to fourteen hours, and Trumpet City, a live, outdoor installation of forty trumpets.

Shepard studied trombone performance at Northwestern University and completed post-graduate studies at the Hochschule der Künste Zürich, where he served as a Lecturer and Listening Researcher. His teachers include Frank Crisafulli (trombone), Ulrich Eichenberger (sacbut), Corrado Bossard (trumpet), as well as Amnon Wolman, Alan Stout, and Michael Pisaro (composition). He has participated in a Deep Listening course with Pauline Oliveros and Guitar Circle courses with Robert Fripp.

His work has been performed at the Festival d'Automne Paris, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Experimental Intermedia New York, the Akademie der Künste Berlin, Kunstraum Düsseldorf, and Roulette, NYC among many others. He has joined installations at the Guggenheim and Whitney Museums in New York. He has received commissions from the Präsidialdepartement der Stadt Zürich, Les Laboratoires d'Aubervilliers, the Quartour Bozzini, the Madison Square Park Conservancy, and many others.

His work has been published by Edition Howeg, the Schweizerische Musikzeitung, Antennae and Edition Wandelweiser. His recordings appear on Edition Wandelweiser Records. Articles appear in the Brooklyn Rail. He lives in Brooklyn."

Alex Lahoski is a NYC guitarist, known for his work with Tilted Axes, and his part in Craig Shepard's "Broken Silence".

"Elisa Corona Aguilar [Born 1981, Ciudad de México] is a writer, translator, composer and guitarist from Mexico City. As a kid, she felt left out when her brother got a guitar and she didn't. In this episode, she tell us how she finally got her own instrument, and how it still influences the music she makes today.

Elisa has won several literary prizes and her most recent book is Doctor Vertigo and the Temptations of Imbalance and she's translated Mingus & Mingus, the autobiography of Sue Graham Mingus and her life with Charles Mingus in Mexico. She's been a member of Robert Fripp and the Orchestra of Crafty Guitarists, Music for Contemplation, the Contemporary Guitar Ensemble, Música y Letras at El Taller Latinoamericano de Nueva York, Tilted Axes: Music For Mobile Electric Guitars and the guitar duet Doble vida. She has a solo project called Sierpe and Other Stories, a series of compositions with electric guitar, loop, iPhone, music box, poetry and spoken word in different languages. She's pursuing her PhD in music (NYU) and is a member of the prestigious National Endowment for Art Creators of Mexico (SNCA)."

"Dan Joseph: Composer - New York City

In his solo works for electroacoustic hammer dulcimer, for which he uses the title Duclimer Flight, Dan constructs contemplative soundscapes that slowly unfold over the course of 30-minutes to one-hour. With roots in early minimalism, ambient music and acoustic ecology, these long-form "journeys" combine composed elements, often in the form of a fixed melodic pattern, with extensive improvisation while exploring the dulcimer's rich harmonic properties. Using a mix of traditional and experimental (extended) techniques in combination with his self-designed laptop-based processing system, Dan gives this ancient instrument and entirely new and contemporary identity. Two such performances are documented on his new double-CD release Electroacoustic Works on XI Records, New York (March 2017)
