Recorded at Alchemia, in Krakow, Poland, in July, 2021, by Tomasz Kubiak.
"Poland is a big cauldron in what concerns jazz and contemporary music. Conscious of this crossed particularity, saxophonist, composer and producer Marek Pospieszalski decided to arrange pieces of 12 great Polish classical authors of the 20th Century to clear up their respective influences to the present-day musical reality of that European country, be it jazz (he is one of the top players in Poland of this genre), collective improvisation, club music, noise or sound art.
The result is this double album with almost two hours of duration, reuniting mind-puzzling versions of scores by Jan Krenz, Tadeusz Baird, Kazimierz Serocki, Tomasz Sikorski, Witold Szalonek, Boguslaw Schaeffer, Marek Stachowski, Andrzej Panufnik, Roman Palester, Zbigniew Rudzinski, Wlodzimierz Kotonski and Zygmunt Krauze. Very rich in terms of timbre and color, using unusual instruments as an old office Scandinavian piano or a reel-to-reel tape recorder, this precious release will amaze you for sure."-Clean Feed
Artist Biographies

His musical education has been greatly influenced by his family and the environment around the band Tie Break. His environment is a broadly understood and unlimited improvised music. At the same time, Pospieszalski draws on a variety of genres and styles, often going beyond the usual patterns. He has made joint albums with such artists as Marco Eneidi and Dennis Gonzalez. He leads his own quartet (with Elias Stemeseder, Max Mucha and Max Andrzejewski) and the Malediwy duo with Qba Janicki. He is also one of the pillars of Wojtek Mazolewski's quintet. He performed among others in Japan, China, India, the United States, Norway, Sweden, England, Ireland, France, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Turkey, Romania, Greece. As a session musician, he has taken part in dozens of radio and television concerts and recorded several dozen albums." ^ Hide Bio for Marek Pospieszalski • Show Bio for Piotr Checki "Piotr Checki, born 1989, Poland is a saxophonist known for the groups Algorhythm, Jaskułke Sextet, Kamil Piotrowicz Quintet, Kamil Piotrowicz Sextet, and Michał Bąk Quartetto." ^ Hide Bio for Piotr Checki • Show Bio for Tomasz Dabrowski "Praised by DownBeat Magazine as one of Europe's most versatile and curious players, Polish-born trumpeter Tomasz Dąbrowski - Scandinavian-based musician and composer makes music that whispers then screams; beautiful, open melodies merging into non-trumpet-like noise. With nine albums released under his own name and dozens of recordings as a co-leader and sideman, he is considered as one of the most active and gifted trumpeters and composers in Europe. Dividing his time between solo projects and cooperating with some of the finest musicians of the day in Europe, South America and Asia. His strong, instantly-recognizable sound and expressive playing are inspired by Eastern European folk, free jazz and contemporary avant-garde music. Tomasz has mostly been known for his work with TOM TRIO [debut album nominated 2013 to the Fryderyk Award - Polish Music Industry Award], Japanese quartet AD HOC, FREE4ARTS, OCEAN FANFARE, and string of concerts S-O-L-O: 30th Birthday / 30 Concerts / 30 Cities. The youngest member of Globe Unity who worked with great artists, such as Tomasz Stańko, Evan Parker, Kris Davis, Tyshawn Sorey, Fredrik Lundin, Maria Faust, Riccardo Del Fra, Michiyo Yagi, Hiroshi Minami and Marilyn Mazur. Dąbrowski is a member of a Danish musician-run collective and record label Barefoot Records. Tomasz Dąbrowski has always been rejecting the conventions of lineup choice: starting with a trio without a harmonic instrument, forming duos with drums and a trio with piano and drums to playing solo trumpet concerts. Working with string orchestra, writing for big band and experimenting with dance and theater. Always looking for new sounds, textures and forms of expression, proving that the unconventional has its peculiar colour and is beautiful in its own way." ^ Hide Bio for Tomasz Dabrowski • Show Bio for Tomasz Sroczynski Tomasz Sroczyński is a Polish violin and viola player, leader of the Tomasz Sroczyński Trio.
