Recorded live at Stadtbistro Isebahnli, in Baden, Switzerland, on November 29th, 2021.
"In 2023 DAY & TAXI celebrates its 35th anniversary. Bassist Silvan Jeger celebrates his 10th DAY & TAXI anniversary and drummer Gerry Hemingway has now also been with the band for 5 years. Reason enough to release a live production after 18 years (LIVE IN SHENZHEN, SHANGHAI AND TAIPEI). LIVE IN BADEN was recorded on 29 November 2021 and is, so to speak, an interim report.
The band describes their music as follows: Unimpressed by trends, DAY & TAXI moves autonomously and unmistakably at the intersection of composition and improvisation. DAY & TAXI plays contemporary music that is aware of the past, perceives the present and aims at the future.
The music - experimental and inclusive - is composed by Christoph Gallio and brought into the respective form by all participants together. The compositions can also be seen as sculptures. Stylistic heterogeneity, coincidence, minimalisms, ordinariness, poetry, humor and also artificiality in the form of sentimentality are allowed. The relaxed handling of this characterizes the unique DAY & TAXI sound, which unites and brings to life the individual qualities of the players.
The German jazz journalist Bert Noglik wrote in 2017: ... a very strong, also emotionally touching music. And in 2022: ...this is art in the broad sense - an associative space through which one can wander.
