Recorded by Jean-Jacques Birge.
"Commissioned by the Museum of Ethnography in Geneva (MEG), Jean-Jacques Birge composed a work that includes 31 pieces from the World Collection of Recorded Folk Music, the famous anthology released for the first time by Constantin Brailoiu between 1951 and 1958, then republished in 1984 and in 2009 by Laurent Aubert.
The 16 pieces of the CD are constructed from numerous-sound materials : environmental sounds, early sound archives and instrumental sequences that surround the voice, the guiding thread of the work and the reminder of our humanity.
A disturbing echo of current events, Perspectives for the 22nd Century is a sound fiction following the journey of humans who must reinvent themselves."-MEG

Artist Biographies
• Show Bio for Jean-Jacques Birge "Music composer, film director, multimedia author, sound designer, writer, Jean-Jacques Birgé considers music essentially in the audio-visual relationship, or at least in its confrontation with other forms of artistic expression. Founder of Disques GRRR, he was one of the first synthesists in France in 1973, and with Un Drame Musical Instantané the precursor of the return to the cine-concert in 1976. If his first electronic work dates from 1965, he composes as well for symphonic orchestras that he improvises freely with musicians from the most diverse backgrounds. For his "radiophonic" creations and his multimedia shows (live zapping on the big screen, fireworks, choreographies...), improvisation and preliminary writing merge, the original electroacoustic treatments are integrated with traditional instruments to create evocative musical fictions that he calls musique à propos. From 1995, he became one of the most popular sound designers in multimedia and a specialist in interactive musical composition, seeking to deepen the effects of meaning and develop an ever-wider range of emotions. As part of his work on major exhibitions, he recently worked at the Louvre Museum, the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie, the Grand Palais, the Panthéon, the Palais de Tokyo, the ZKM... Alongside around fifty vinyls and CDs, his website drame.org offers 105 unreleased albums (191 hours!) for free listening and downloading. He has been running a daily, activist and supportive blog for 20 years and gives conferences on the relationship between sound and image." ^ Hide Bio for Jean-Jacques Birge • Show Bio for Jean-Francois Vrod "Jean-François Vrod, born in 1959 , is a French folk musician, a composer of contemporary music and a performer of traditional music. Strongly influenced by the art brut , he explores the popular violin and the acoustics in general in many ways. He begins to play the violin during the 1970s folk wave. He then frequents the folk club Le Bourdon , and befriends Joseph Perrier, fiddler Cantal he collected and whose repertoire and style are essential references in the field of traditional music. Professional musician at the age of 20, he founds or participates in groups: Café-Charbons , The Chez Bousca Company , The Violin Trio (With Jean-Pierre Champeval and Olivier Durif). In the 1990s , he began a long solo career that led him to perform in different contexts, from musical theater to solo performances. He created the two shows De memory of violin and The idiom of the village , solo creations inspired by collections of former fiddlers Massif Central. In 1997, he was invited by Patrice Fontanarosa to the concert The souls of the violin at the Musicora show to represent the traditional French music, the following year at the opening days of the concerts Radio France . He also plays for the young audience, first with Cie Du Cerle (with storyteller Abbi Patrix), then solo with his show Blockheads , and finally with the storyteller Sophie Willem in The King of the Ravens . In 2002, he created the show The Subtraction of Flowers , concert around the acoustic possibilities of violin and percussion between traditional music and contemporary music. In 2003, he founded The Real Trio with Régis Reynaud and Bruno Le Tron . He also founded the Collectif des Professionnels des Musique et Danses Traditionnelles. In 2005, he obtained a state commission via the Electroacoustic Music Group of Albi." ^ Hide Bio for Jean-Francois Vrod • Show Bio for Antonin-Tri Hoang Antonin-Tri Hoang is a versatile composer and multi-instrumentalist focusing on synthesizer, percussion, clarinet, and alto saxophone, Hoang is renowned for his groundbreaking compositions and improvisations that often blend jazz traditions with electronic and contemporary experimental textures, collaborating regularly with leading figures in the French avant-garde. ^ Hide Bio for Antonin-Tri Hoang • Show Bio for Sylvain Lemetre "Sylvain Lemêtre, percussion The itinerary of the eclectic percussionist Sylvain Lemêtre takes shape around his openness and his insatiable curiosity towards explorations and musical encounters. His favorite field is the confines of contemporary creation, jazz, improvisation and traditional music. He trained at the conservatory at a young age, winning a first prize in percussion and chamber music at G.Sylvestre in Rueil-Malmaison and a first prize in traditional percussion at C.Nicolas in Argenteuil. In addition, he has always worked and played Zarb with F.Bedel, trained in soundpainting with V.Le Quang and practiced piano with C.Stephan. Nourished by the teachings of his masters, he likes to describe himself as "a self-taught conservatoire", defending a non-academic musical path, favoring listening, autonomy, analytical and critical sense, both towards the learned written music. and traditional and improvised oral music. The question of theatricality in music and the presence of musicians on stage is very important to him when he approaches musical theater. Thus, today he is passionately involved in training courses with extremely varied aesthetics: "The subtraction of flowers" by Jean-François Vrod, "The Cairn Ensemble" directed by Jérôme Combier, "Surnatural Orchestra", "Léger Sourire" musical theater duet, "Spring Roll" and "Printemps" by Sylvaine Hélary, " Saltarello "by Garth Knox," Farewell my beautiful "by Matthieu Donarier. "Boreal Sound" his solo around texts by Olivier Mellano, "The steam over rice" Alexandra Grimal. He played in Antonin Leymarie's "Magnetic Ensemble", "Real thing # 3" and "Tower-Bridge" by Marc Ducret, "The Riddle of the Tympanum" by Fred Pallem for several years and now has a beautiful discography. More recently, he began writing music and honored commissions, notably the state commission: "Borg and Théa" for the Béla quartet, the subtraction of flowers and the mastery of the Opéra de Lyon, but also "Entre cabbage and wolf "and" The angel of the weird "for Noémi Boutin and S.Hélary, or" The energy of the ceiling "for Surnatural Orchestra Albert Marcoeur and the Béla quartet. In addition, throughout his career during the creation of live shows and concerts, he collaborated with the artists: T.Bonvalet, K.Davis, E.Caron, J.Pontier, D.Chouillet, C.Palotaï, P .Minton, Nosfell, Matthieu A, JP.Drouet, F.Sarhan, T.Blondeau, G.Pesson, R.Cendo, F.Marillier, N.Frize, A.Messager, R.Thierry, B.Coupey, C. Pavet, F.Cotinaud, P.Cueco, V.Bouchot. MH. Fournier, G.Siracusa, Y.Maresz, L.Naon, L.Fagin, A.Serre-Milan, E.Biston, A.Martinez. " ^ Hide Bio for Sylvain Lemetre
