Descriptions, Reviews, &c.
Tod Dockstader is known as a 1960's electronic artist, releasing on the Folkways and Owl lables; David Myers aka Arcane Device is a NY sound artist working in a variety of audio forms, but noted for his incredible work in feedback music; after a brief hiatus in the 90's he's been prolifically releasing material on his own Pulsewidth label, broadening the scope of his work and his sound pallette. We carry several releases by both artists, but Pond is something exceptional: the first full length release from Dockstader since 1967, and the first collaborations between these highly innovative artists. Dockstader, unlike so many of his contemporaries, favors clear and uplifting tonalities, showing a playfulness uncharacteristic to most electronic work without compromising the sophistication of his ideas. With Myers the pieces on this release are engaging, complicated yet surprisingly accessible. Like the label name, highly recommended!
