"The adaptable Michel F Côté presents a set of 19 songs and short country blues oriented works. For Côté this is a suprisingly accessible work, though certainly creatively accessible, with unusual instrumentation and sampling, traditional blues instruments augmented by voice, synth, theremin, even "poor whistling", with overall interesting spatial qualities and unique directions. Some of the songs sample directly from the artists covered, such as "Spike Driver Blues" featuring Mississipi John Hurt himself on vocals, or Billie Holliday's "I Can't Give You Anything but Love" with a crackly Billie singing over the updated song. Frequent collaborators Jean Derome, Bernard Falaise, Normand Guilbeault, Tom Walsh, etc, bring out the best in the music; a very interesting and enjoyable release."-Ambiance Magnetiques
