Descriptions, Reviews, &c.

"Jack's son is a project created at the end of 2003 by Diego Martinez, Mexican young producer who also has published works under the alias of Lumenlab. In its beginning Jack's son produced avant hip-hop and break beats. He played a lot of concerts in Mexico and appeared in compilations of Mexican labels as Abolipop and At - At.

Since 2005, Jack's son has been exploring the fusion of hip-hop with soul, dub and funk, enriching the sound of the project. He has performed in Mexico, Colombia, England and Spain.

"Everyone has a kid inside" is the name of the first album of Jack's son, which includes the collaboration of one of the most recognized MC of Mexico: Bocafloja, the colombian singer and producer Lucrecia, and the mexican producer of minimal techno - pop Fax. 15 tracks that shows a good work behind the laptop combining some organic instruments, synthesis and samples with funky beats, dub basses, soul cadences and pop elements. "Glitches sit along side disjointed drums, synth pads and warm washes, with the vocals treated as an extension of the instrumental colourings, rather than sitting inside of the groove in a sensible fashion. Martinez really bends your mind in sections and becomes very cerebrally kinetic, forcing the listener to disconnect the normal listening structures and to allow each small sound to exist in the moment rather than trying to pin down each noise in a logical sense."-Abolipop
