"Hauser's ear for timbre and texture, density and dynamics, informs his compositions. A single woodblock, or snare, or cymbal penetrates the existential emptiness, finds common ground with the addition of other instruments. Metallic tones shimmer or rasp in an illusion of electronics. A linear pulse is expanded, layered, or multiplied, registers as the complex momentum of thought. Rhythmic patterns as motion studies - static, kinetic, but always disciplined - occupy space with sculptural multi-dimensionality. Silence is rigid or fluid. Colors resonate as in a Rothko or Hofmann canvas - soft, muted, detached, or lustrous, lucid, keen. But like all music, it is aimed at the ear, not the eye. It is best heard in total darkness, with an open mind."-Art Lange

Artist Biographies
• Show Bio for Ross Karre "Ross Karre is a percussionist and temporal artist based in New York City. His primary focus is on combining media, including classical percussion performance, electronics, theater, moving image, visual art, and lighting design. He designs integrated, moving images that emerge from an aesthetic foundation in American experimental music as well as that of the European avant garde. Ross is a percussionist and the co-artistic director for the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE). His projection design has been presented in such prestigious venues as the BBC Scotland (Glasgow Concert Halls), The Park Avenue Armory, Miller Theatre (NYC), and the National Gallery of Art (Washington, DC), and the Kennedy Center. As a percussionist, he has worked closely with European masters such as Pierre Boulez, Helmut Lachenmann, Chaya Czernowin, Olga Neuwirth, and Harrison Birtwistle. Karre has been a percussionist and staff member of the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) since 2011 and also performs regularly with Third Coast Percussion (Chicago), red fish blue fish, and the National Gallery of Art new music ensemble. Using his background as a percussionist, production manager, and projection designer, Ross is active as a production coordinator and designer of several intermedia operas and staged works by Ashley Fure, Pauline Oliveros, Suzanne Farrin, and many more. He has collaborated as a producer/designer on the world's largest scale productions at the Park Avenue Armory, Holland Festival, Ojai Festival, and Lincoln Center. As a teacher, Ross is a regular guest lecturer and clinician on topics ranging from contemporary percussion and media to arts administration and professional development. He has been invited to return to his alma maters of Oberlin Conservatory, UCSD, and Interlochen Arts Academy as well as the Eastman School, Bard College, the Carnegie Hall Professional Training Workshops, and dozens more. Ross has organized several unique university residencies for the International Contemporary Ensemble at RPI, Kent State, MacAlester, the University of Michigan and other institutions in South America and Europe. As a traveling artist, Ross has presented work at nearly every major festival in Europe and the United States including those in Lucerne, Darmstadt, Holland Festival, Ojai Festival, Mostly Mozart, Aspekte Festival (Austria), Eight Bridges (Cologne), Rotterdam, Reykjavik, Copenhagen, Banff (Canada), Mona Foma (Tasmania), Far North (Greenland), and the Park Avenue Armory. In 2011, Ross commenced two major archiving projects which seek to document and distribute recorded performances of hundreds of artist-clients all of the world. The rKAD media collective and metafields.org have become vital parts of the contemporary music scene by preserving and proliferating the important works of emerging and established artists." ^ Hide Bio for Ross Karre • Show Bio for Kevin Sims "Kevin Sims is a percussionist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and flimmaker living in Aaronsburg, Pennsylvania. Kevin's recent work includes the solo percussion project Yarrow Canon; the free improvisation album There Will Always Be Instruments with the Spherule Trio (Patrick Shiroishi, sax-ophones; Lucas Brode, guitar and screwdrivers); the multimedia documentary projects Battle Hymn of the Public (released on Orb Tapes) and Our Sense of the Real; a collaboration with composer Scott Wollschleger and poet Abby Minor on a percussion monodrama titled We Have Taken and Eaten; the founding and organizing of Open Music, which is a concert series and ensemble; and being one half, along with James Searfoss, of the noise-improvisation duo Moth Bucket. Since leaving New York for Pennsylvania in 2011, Kevin has been studying the intersections between avant-garde music and politics. This study has revealed music, art making, and politics to be wide-spread and everyday social practices rather than professional specialties. Each of these practices lives as much from caring for the social situation in which it brews as for the development of its material. Kevin has been led on this study by the work of many artists and thinkers, most notably the visual artist and founding Situationist Asger Jorn; pianist, composer and band leader Sun Ra; poet and philosopher Fred Moten; and the polyrhythmic political theorizing of Hannah Arendt. Kevin studied percussion at Manhattan School of Music in New York and on a DAAD fellowship at the Musikhochschule Freiburg in Germany. Kevin was a founding member of the contemporary music ensemble Red Light New Music in New York, and of the international percussion group Ensemble XII." ^ Hide Bio for Kevin Sims • Show Bio for Eugene Ughetti "Eugene Ughetti is the founding artistic director of Speak Percussion. His artistic output is primarily an exploration of the materiality of percussion, but his work could also engage with ideas like drum aged rum, supersonic performance or the percussive military. Eugene is known for tackling complex and ambitious art music projects whether as director, composer, performer or conductor. He has worked with some of the world's guiding lights in new music including Pierre Boulez, Liza Lim, Steve Reich and John Zorn. Eugene's works have been presented at Darmstadt (Germany), Roulette (New York), SONICA (UK), Ruhrtriennale (Germany), Mona Foma (Hobart), Arts Centre Melbourne, Transart (Italy), Lucerne Festival (Switzerland), Noordezon Festival (The Netherlands), PICA (Perth), SIPFest (Jakarta), National Museum (Singapore), George Town Festival (Malaysia) among others. Eugene has worked with most of Australia's leading new music ensembles including conducting ELISION in the world premiere of Richard Barrett's CONSTRUCTION in the 2011 Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. He has worked with some of the world's finest conductors including Valery Gergiev, James Levine, Pierre Boulez and Charles Dutoit. He has composed works for The Australian Ballet, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, ABC and Bionics Institute. Eugene won the inaugural Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship (2012), MCA/Freedman Fellowship for Classical Music (2011), OZCO Creative Music Fellowship and various national Art Music Awards for his work with Speak Percussion." ^ Hide Bio for Eugene Ughetti
