"Hans Hassler, born 1945 in Graubünden, East Switzerland, is the true Swiss king of accordion. For over 30 years he has developed a style which incorporates Swiss folk music, jazz, film music, free improvisation and classical interpretation. Hans Hassler inspires the listener with his playful virtuosity, a good sense of humour and a musical imagination without borders.
This is his second album for Intakt. For serveral years Hassler has worked on this tribute to some of the giants of Swiss folk music: Paul Kollegger, Luzi Brüesch, Kasi Geiser and Hans Fischer, who playeda special type of swiss melodeon the so-called 'Schwyzerörgeli'. Hans Hassler celebrates his idols by taking their music and playing it in a new way.
On the album you can hear Hassler with various musicians. He has played with some of them for many years: Saxophonist and bass clarinetist Gebhard Ullmann (a renowned German jazz musician), clarinet player Jürgen Kupke and percussionist Beat Föllmi."-Intakt
