"Our third collection featuring the ondes Martenot and the most experimental, in part because the Spectralist composer Tristan Murail, to whom this CD is dedicated, was himself a student of - and performer on - the ondes and, in these pieces, he explores some of its less conventional byways. These works are united here for the first time, performed by a new generation of musicians more attuned to the raw, less academic approach to sound that Murail himself favoured. Works for solo Onde, two Ondes, Onde and Piano, two Ondes, percussion and electric guitar."-ReR Megacorp
"The ondes Martenot, also known as the ondium Martenot, Martenot and ondes musicales, is an early electronic musical instrument invented in 1928 by Maurice Martenot. The original design was similar in sound to the theremin. The sonic capabilities of the instrument were later expanded by the addition of timbral controls and switchable loudspeakers.
The instrument's eerie wavering notes are produced by varying the frequency of oscillation in vacuum tubes. The production of the instrument stopped in 1988, but several conservatories in France still offer tuition to students of the instrument.
In 1997, the Ondéa project began designing an instrument based on the ondes Martenot. Since the Martenot name is still protected, the new instrument is called Ondéa, but has the playing and operational characteristics of the original ondes Martenot. In 2001, a completed prototype was first used in concerts. These instruments have been in regular use since 2005.
Since 2008, Jean-Loup Dierstein, with the support of Maurice Martenot's son, has been developing a new, officially named ondes Musicales instrument based on the model used when production stopped in 1988."-Wikipedia

Artist Biographies
• Show Bio for Nadia Ratsimandresy "Born in Paris, Nadia Ratsimandresy discovered (at the age of 9) her fascination with music and the Ondes Martenot in the class of Françoise Pellié Murail in Evry, France. After graduating from the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP) in 2002, she is dedicated to chamber music and the performing arts. She developped, simultaneously with her work as a chamber musician an original solo répertoire for her instrument and electronic processing in real-time: Mimetic (aka Jérôme Soudan), Sarah Wéry, Matt Collins and Zeena Parkins dedicated some of their pieces to her. She composes for the theatre and for dance, and many instrumental works with or without electronic systems complete her catalog, which reflects its incarnated energy. A true improviser, Nadia has shared the stage with Cécile Thévenot, Okkyung Lee, Maria Chavez, Paul Pignon and Annabelle Playe. Nadia is currently Professor of Onde at the Regional Conservatoire of Boulogne-Billancourt. In 2020, she was appointed president of Futurs Composés, a national network for music creation. She has been co-directing with Annabelle Playe, AnA Compagnie since September 2021." ^ Hide Bio for Nadia Ratsimandresy
