Recorded at Detruita Sonon, Madrid, Spain, on January 28th, 2018, by David Area.
The Spanish free improvising quartet Colectivo maDam of Ruben Gutierrez on electronics, objects, Tomas Gris on acoustic guitar, Guillermo Torres on fluguelhorn, and David Area on electronics are joined by Lisbon improvisers Ernesto Rodrigues on viola and Miguel Mira on cello for this 3-part work, the first recorded live at Espacio B, Madrid, the 2nd & 3rd recorded in the studio. All three pieces are collective electroacoustic improvisation in a lowercase style, slowly evolving works of tremendous detail and concentration.
The unison of Creative Sources regulars Rordrigues and Mira with Colectivo maDam, all of whom have appeared on Creative Sources albums alongside albums on Evan Parker's psi label, Idealstate Recordings, NotTwo, NoBusiness, Tour de Bras, PAX, and Jacc, is perfectly sensible and compatible, all of them explorers and leaders in the development of large scale non-idiomatic ea-improv. Through extended techniques and the unusual textures and tones of electronics its often difficult to determine whether sources are electronic or acoustic, so compatible are the approaches of players on both side of the electric cord. It rewards the listener to pay close attention to the interactions and development of these improvisations, with each subsequent listen revealing details and subtle nuances that come from their complex layering and inter-player support.

Following the success of that work creates Mattoid Records, label focused entirely on the most abrupt sides of noise genre. As a musician, he starts with small projects following the noisy line being Catatonic State the most relevant of this slope, in which combines the essence of the Harsh Noise Wall with live performance. In 2014, he began to enter the scene of free improvisation in Madrid and began to forge projects such as Hashigakari (with Tomás Gris, reductionist improvisation) or Nebelmeer (with Marta Sainz, atmospheric and dark electronics). Since then, he faces his musical activity entirely as an improviser without seeking any stylistic result, covering aesthetics that flow from reductionism to drone environments using various types of electronic elements (sinusoidal waves, noise synthesizers, software ...). He is part of other projects like Nanimo, Opera Im Keller or La Nueva Iglesia.During these years, he has shared stage with artists as diverse as Alfredo Costa Monteiro, Johnny Chang, If Bwana, Antoine Beuger, Rally! (Javier Piñango & Edu Comelles), Pelayo Arrizabalaga, Persona or Guillermo Torres in spaces such as Cruce, Naranjo, Antic Forn de Vallcarca, La Central del Reina Sofía, Medialab Prado, Teatro la Puerta Estrecha or the Creative Fest in Portugal. His main interest shifted towards contemporary improvised and composed music. The relationship with his instruments is focused in sonic and textural elements. Electronic music was an early influence on his approach to violin playing, which challenges traditional romantic concepts of the violin/viola through use of preparations and micro tuning. Active in different settings on the Portuguese scene for free improvised music, both as a collaborator and in leading his own groups. Music for Dance, Cinema, Video and Performance. Has created the record label Creative Sources Recordings in 1999, which mainly concentrates on releasing experimental and electro-acoustic music." ^ Hide Bio for Ernesto Rodrigues • Show Bio for Miguel Mira "Born in 1958, studying guitar at the Academy of Music Amateurs, in the 70s, with Prof. Nagy.
