John Zorn invited the trio of guitarist Will Greene, bassist Simon Hanes, and drummer Aaron Edgcomb, to found a new band and play his score books "Bagatelles" and "Apparitions" for his Tzadik label; the trio found common ground merging jazz, experimental and rock forms, forming Trigger and releaseing this album of wonderfully strange creative intent.

"Will Greene, Simon Hanes and Aaron Edgcomb didn't know each other before they were invited by John Zorn to found a new band and play his score books "Bagatelles" and "Apparitions". In common they had a variety of musical interests covering creative jazz, experimental music and "intelligent" pop.
A saxophonist besides being a guitar player, Greene worked with such different luminaries like Marc Ribot and Joe Morris. An ex-member of the art rock group Guerilla Toss, Hanes devoted his love for the music of Burt Bacharach, Serge Gainsbourg, Ennio Morricone and all things Italian to the development of the ambitious project Tredici Bacci. A percussionist with classical background, Edgcomb's career is covering several fronts, from new music and free improvisation to hardcore noise, in contexts like Yelsa, REA and The Gown of Entry.
Artist Biographies
• Show Bio for Will Greene "Will Greene: Guitarist, saxophonist, composer - and recent Brooklyn transplant - Will Greene works in a variety of musical worlds and projects, all circling the notion of experimental and improvised music. From close work with composer John Zorn in the thrash-noise outfit Trigger, to holding the saxophone chair in the italo-cinema-pop orchestra Tredici Bacci, he finds a playful space between raw energy and melodic sensitivity. He has been fortunate to work with artists such as Marc Ribot, Joe Morris, and JG Thirwell amongst many others, and to perform at venues including Hamburgs Elbphilarmonie, the Paris Philharmonie, Sarajevo Jazz Festival, and The Stone." ^ Hide Bio for Will Greene • Show Bio for Simon Hanes Simon Hanes is a bassist, a graduate from New England Conservatory and has played in the then-Boston-based No(ise) Wave unit Guerilla Toss, adopting the "Luxardo" persona as an arranger, composer, conductor, and guitarist, and went on to assemble the band Tredici Bacci. He also is a member of the Zorn influenced band Trigger. ^ Hide Bio for Simon Hanes • Show Bio for Aaron Edgcomb "Aaron Edgcomb is a composer, drummer, and percussionist whose work appears in many contexts including improvisational music, jazz, new music, noise, and song. Aaron is very interested in the way music creates and changes social and political identities. Aaron has performed in and composed for many different ensembles including the electro-rock group Yelsa, his solo drums and electronics project REA, The Gown of Entry, and the improvising hardcore trio Trigger. He has collaborated with such artists as John Zorn, Ted Reichman, Anthony Coleman, The Ladles, and Adam Dunson. Aaron has performed extensively around the world including performances at the MoMA PS1, National Sawdust, Roulette, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Sarajevo Jazz Festival, the Jazz Em Agosto Festival in Lisbon, not to mention the uncountable and invaluable living rooms, garages, basements, and DIY venues that work so hard to keep creative music alive. In addition to his work as an improviser, Aaron is trained in concert percussion and performs solo marimba, vibraphone, and multi-percussion works. In 2014 Aaron debuted his solo marimba composition "Dawn Has Appeared" for Ran Blake's 80th birthday concert at the New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall. He has also performed orchestral works with the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, and Reno Chamber Orchestra. Aaron holds a B.M. in Jazz and Percussion from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a M.M. in Contemporary Improvisation from the New England Conservatory. Currently, Aaron is composing new works for solo and ensemble performance (and occasionally poetry and prose), teaching percussion/composition/improvisation, and enjoys reading, and fine cuisine (both eating and cooking it)." ^ Hide Bio for Aaron Edgcomb
