1970 - Meets Roger TRIGAUX with whom I form an innovative rock group with our own compositions.

1973 - Birth of the group "NECRONOMICON" with Roger TRIGAUX, Daniel DENIS, Claude DERON and Guy DENIS. Playing our own compositions, mostly influenced by Tony WILLIAMS "LIFETIME", "MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA", Miles DAVIS and Manfred MANN's "CHAPTER THREE", among others.

1974 - Creation of the group "UNIVERS ZERO" with Daniel DENIS, Roger TRIGAUX, Claude DERON, Vincent MOTOULLE, Patrick HANAPPIER and John VAN RYMENANT.

1978 - Play with the "WIM BIG BAND" with Fred VAN HOVE" including occasional guests such as Peter BRÖTZMANN . Evan PARKER, Peter KOWALD, Albert MANGELSDORF, and numerous Belgian musicians including some of UNIVERS ZERO.
1978 - First concerts abroad with UNIVERS ZERO, including reunion concerts with the French band "ART ZOYD"

1979 - Live concert with the experimental project "MUSIQUE FLEXIBLE", including Marc HOLLANDER, Vincent KENIS, Denis VAN HECKE, Franck WUYTS.
1979 - Recording the second UNIVERS ZERO album "Hérésie" with Daniel DENIS, Roger TRIGAUX, Patrick HANAPPIER and Michel BERCKMANS, followed by a European tour.

1981 - Recording of the third UNIVERS ZERO album "Ceux Du Dehors" with Michel BERCKMANS, Patrick HANAPPIER, Andy KIRK, Daniel DENIS, and Thierry ZABOITZEFF, Jean-Luc AIMÉ, Jean DEBEFVE, Ilona CHALE as guests, followed by a European tour.
1981 - Played in the electric jazz group "DEFORMATION" including Alain ROCHETTE and Daniel DENIS.

1982 - Tour with the group "PRESENT", with Roger TRIGAUX, Daniel DENIS and Alain ROCHETTE.
1982 - Recording the one side single vinyl "Triomphe Des Mouches" by UNIVERS ZERO and tour with the band.
1982 - Recording of "Influences" a title by UNIVERS ZERO on a compilation for "Recommended Records" with among others, Robert WYATT, The RESIDENTS and ARTZOYD.

1983 - Recording of "Crawling Wind" a UNIVERS ZERO extended single and touring with the band.
1983 - Meet and jam with KRÄLDJURSANSTALTEN in Sweden.
1983 - Co-founder of the improvisation group "LIQUIDATION TOTALE" with Daniel DENIS, Franck WUYTS and Michel DELORY, playing a kind of Tony Williams - Miles Davis direction.

1984 - Start mail exchange of work on tape cassette with the American band "CARTOON".

1987 - Plays with the group INTERACTIONS including Mark BOGAERTS and Garrett LIST

1986 - Recorded as guest on "Happy Accidents" CD from the group "RASCAL REPORTERS"
1987 - Plays with PRINCESSE MANSIA M'BILA's Congolese band.

1987 - Plays with the punk rock group HU-YENG

1988 - Plays with "THE MORTON FORK GANG", with Geoff LEIGH, Joe HIGHAM, Daniel STOKART, Jan KUIJKEN, Mark BOGAERTS and Daniel DENIS.

1989 - Plays with the Celtic Folk band SUZIE SOFTWARE & The PERIPHERALS with Alan WARD ex UNIVERS ZERO violinist, but also Michael DEVLIN, Steve SHAW and Suzette O'BRIEN on vocals.
1989 - Plays in concert with the group X-LEGGED SALLY.

1990 - Release of "Toujours Plus A L' Est" by UNIVERS ZERO on a compilation called "Enneade", with amongst others, the group MAGMA
1990 - Rejoins the ethnic-jazz group GALILEO'S LEFT WING with Luk MISHALLE, Danny DE CORT and Dirk WACHTELAER
1990 - Rejoins the group ANOUK & COMMENTS.
1990 - Participates to a few concerts with the mega group THE SIMPLETONES including numerous Belgian and English musicians.

1991 - Founds ARGONOTE with Alan WARD, a management agency principally focused on promoting Belgian artists.
1991 - Playing with the somewhat sarcastic / "tongue in cheek" band NEW VIVOLA, with compositions and direction(s) by Johan DE SMET

1992 - Creates CARBON 7 a record company with Alan WARD.
1992 - Plays with X-LEGGED SALLY, this time including Pierre VERVLOESEM and Jean-Luc PLOUVIER.

1993 - Play and produce the CD "Live" from GALILEO'S LEFT WIND.
1993 - Play a few titles on Daniel DENIS' solo album "Les Eaux Troubles"

1994 - Creation of "CARBON 7 Distribution" for Belgium.
1994 - Becomes member of the Rock group "GUTS !", including Fabienne VANDENPLAS, Arianne PLUMEREL, Luc VAN LIESHOUT, Eric LEMAÎTRE, Matvei BILIS, and Thierry CARCAN.
1994 - Play bass on the CD "Each In Our Own Thoughts" by Tim HODGKINSON including some unreleased titles from HENRY COW with Dagmar KRAUSE on vocals, but also Chris CUTLER, Lindsay COOPER, Bill GILONIS, Rick WILSON among others.
1994 - Produce and plays as guest on "Home Made", the first Pierre VERVLOESEM" solo album.

1995 - Releases "Onde Crépusculaire", a composition initially written for Univers Zéro, on a compilation by "Cuneïform Records", under the name of DOCTOR ZERO, with the participation of the group DOCTOR NERVE.
1995 - Participates in the reforming of the group PRESENT with Roger TRIGAUX, Daniel DENIS and Réginald TRIGAUX.

1996 - Produce and play bass on "Ardense" the first CD from rock band "GUTS!", with vocals in French.
1996 - Rebirth of UNIVERS ZERO with Daniel DENIS, Andy KIRK, Marianne DENOÏA and Kaat DE WINDT

1997 - Play a unique concert with UNIVERS ZERO at Victoriaville Festival in Quebec - Canada.
1997 - Play with Andy KIRK & The Heatmakers a very good cover band with a mixed repertoire including Andy's compositions and songs from Peter Gabriel, Police, Pink Floyd, U2, Deep Purple, Simple minds, and jimi Hendrix among others.

1998 - Play bass on the CD "Certitudes" by PRESENT.
1998 - Play a few gigs live with FAITH.

2000 - Start composing new material with the aim to bring out a solo CD.

2002 - Produce and play bass on the CD "Grosso Modo" from Pierre VERVLOESEM, with Peter VANDENBERGHE ..boards, Charles HAYWARD on drums, and Peter VERMEERSCH as guest on Clarinets.
Partly composed, and partly improvised, a successful way of keeping intact the energy of live music.

2005 - Play a live concert as guest with KK NULL electronic devices, Seijiro MURAYAMA on drums and Eric LEMAÎTRE on guitar.

2006 - Play bass, and do some vocals on Modified Reality by Franck BALESTRACCI, produced and released on my label. This is the first work thru the channel of internet. I recorded myself as well than the guitarist Réginald TRIGAUX and the violist Marianne DENOÏA at home, and send it to Franck who finalised the all work at home as well.

2007 - Played as guest on Acoustic Camera by Karl Off aswell than Dirk DESCHEEMAEKER, Jan KUIJKEN, George VAN DAM, Charles LOOS, Félix SIMTAINE, Jean-Louis RASINFOSSE
2007 - Recording of "Agakuk" a composition by Henry KRUTZEN on which I worked a personnal bass line. Also Morgan AGREN and Réginald TRIGAUX appear as guests on this track.
2007 - Played as guest on 2 compositions that will be on the next 48 CAMERAS album.
2007 - Played live as guest with SIBEL and her band. A repertoir made of Turkish music.

2008 - Played live for two concerts with Yoshida TATSUYA from RUINS, and Kawabata MAKOTO from ACID MOTHER TEMPLE
2008 - Join a new band under the name of PURPLE VISHNU, with Michel DELVILLE (Synth-Guitar), Frank VAN DER KOOIJ (Acoustic and electronic Saxophone), Ivo SANS (Drums). Already two concerts have been done under this name, and are expecting some feedback for more... The music is a mix between own compositions and destructured "Rock" covers.
2008 - The band Purple Vishnu change its name into The MOVING TONES, and has been rejoined by Catherine SMET (Keyboards).
2008 - The MOVING TONES play 3 concerts with Benoît MOERLIN (Electronic Vibraphone, Marimba) as guest.
2008 - Play Bass as guest on the track "Agakuk" from the CD "Blue" by FINNEGANS WAKE. The two other guest are Reginald TRIGAUX (Guitar), and Morgan ÅGREN (Drums).

Born in Léopoldville, Zaïre, in 1959, Pierre Bernard studied classical music at the Liège Music Conservatory. He has been involved in various musical projects, including contemporary music ensembles and collaborations with other artists.

"Michel Berckmans, born in Brussels on September 1st 1955, Michel Berckmans studies the bassoon at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels.

In 1978, he interrupted his studies to participate in the creation of various musical groups such as: Univers Zero, Aqsak Maboul, Julverne, Flexible Music in Belgium. Art Zoid in France. Munju in Germany. Von Zamla in Sweden. With these sets he toured all around Europe.

Theater of Brussels under the direction of Henri Ronse, interpreting "A copper music at the windows of the incurables" by M. Maeterlinck and in the Théâtre Bâtir in Paris in The show "Two or three trapezes that I know of her". Later on, he becomes composer for stage music at the Theater of the Swan: "Tales of the Whiskey"; The Théâtre de Galafronie: "The toad soup", "Transit", "L'ornithorynque"; The Theater Bis: "De eerste Held"; The Theater Next: "Herwig De Weerdt", "The Rose of Cerzeto" He plays with the Théâtre du Tilleul in "The famous Invasion of the Bear in S" cile ". He is engaged as a musical adviser at the Singel for "Schumann 360".

Parallel to his theater activities he reintegrates in the universe of classical music: he forms trio Martinu with clarinet player Ronald van Spaendonck and bassoon player Lode Cartrysse and is a member of the ensemble "Nouvelle musique consonnante" of Michel Lisyght. Recently, he participated in the formation of the group "The Magnitude of the Damage" with Martine Kivits, JL Fafchamps, Alain Gilbert and Aurélia Boven.

A Belgian violinist, composer, and music educator, Cécile Broché studied classical and contemporary music, improvisation, and jazz at the Conservatories of Liège and Brussels, obtaining First Prizes in violin and chamber music. She has collaborated with artists such as Barre Phillips, Diederik Wissels, and Frederic Rzewski, and has a particular interest in exploring the electric violin's potential. As a composer, she writes for theater and dance, combining everyday sounds with live music.

"Michel Delville is a musician, writer and lecturer born in Liège, Belgium.His recent musical projects - most of which are signed to New York-based label MoonJune Records - include The Wrong Object, Machine Mass feat. Dave Liebman, douBt, Comicoperando, The Gödel Codex, Ensemble Mosae, Trank Zappa Grappa in Varese and 48Cameras.He has played and recorded with Elton Dean, Dave Liebman, Annie Whitehead, Harry Beckett,Chris Cutler, Tony Levin, Robin Verheyen, Richard Sinclair, Ed Mann, Tony Bianco, Alex Maguire, Dagmar Krause, Benoît Moerlen, Karen Mantler, Geoff Leigh, Robin Rimbaud, The Brussels Philharmonic, John Edwards, Stanley Zappa, Bobby Martin, Gilad Atzmon, and many jazz & rock luminaries.

Extensive recording and touring has taken Delville to many different countries, including Japan, the United States, Canada, England, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Wales, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg, Slovakia and Greece. Delville is regularly featured in Downbeat, Guitar Player, Jazzwise, All About Jazz, Jazzitalia, Musica Jazz and other high profile international magazines. In 2014 and 2017 he was voted one of the 10 best electric guitarists of the year by Arnaldo DeSouteiro's Annual Jazz Station Poll.

Delville teaches literature and comparative literature at the University of Liège. He is the author or editor of some twenty books and more than a hundred articles pertaining to comparative poetics and interdisciplinary studies. His awards and distinctions include the SAMLA Book Award, the Choice Outstanding Book Award, the Wernaers Prize for the promotion of research and the diffusion of scientific knowledge and the Belgian American Educational Foundation Alumni Award."

"Catherine Smet's music is a reflection of her amazing journey made of encounters and shimmering discoveries, carrying the colours and rhythms of the cultures that she loves to dissect not without a certain malice.

Her artistic path reflects her desire to explore the possibilities for integrating the composition and improvisation by componing for various groups, and seeking a common material where classical, contemporary, jazz and tango can meet.

She appeared in different bands of various trends in performance or playing improvised music with musicians such as Michael Moore, Peter Jaqmain or Bart Maris.

In the alternative rockscene she played with Guy Segers and Michel Delville and went on an European tour with the Rythmiss, an Afro-Cuban percussion band.

In 2015 she released her first auto-produced album " IluSioneS" (with the support of Sabam for Culture 2015) with 12 songs solo at the piano.

"Belgian drummer Dirk Wachtelaer has been playing drums for over 20 years. On the local scene he has been active in many different fields : in regular bands (playing all styles of music), theatre work, education, ...

Internationally he has performed as a member of Paul Schütze's Phantom City (with Bill Laswell and Raul Björkenheim a.o.), as a collaborator with Japanese trumpet player Toshinori Kondo, as a member of Stevie Wishart's Transients band (with Rhodrie Davis ao) and in various ad hoc projects and improvisations (with Trevor Watts, Zeena Parkins, Jim O'Rourke, David Toop, ...)

As a soloist he has been concentrating on the interaction between acoustic drums and electronics (using live electronics, sampling and programming). He has made 3 solo cd's (the last two out on FMR).

In 1999 he founded Vanishing Pictures. Using acoustic instruments and electronics, mixing improvisation with arrangements, and working with ever-changing line-ups this band has been one continuous adventure. The musicians who have participated (and still do) have very different backgrounds and come from all over the world, a.o.: Gerrit Valckenaers (B), Jim Denley (Aus), Luc Mishalle (B), Pierre Bastien (Fr), Paul Lytton (UK), Otomo Yoshihide (Jap), I Made Wardana (Bali), Dj Grazzhoppa (B), Babs Jobo (Ghana), Philipp Wachsmann (UK), Luiz Marquèz (Mex), ... Four cd's have been released, all four on FMR.

In between his solo work and Vanishing Pictures lies his work concentrating on percussion ensembles. He has been working in duo with American percussionist Michael Weilacher and did a project with Steve Hubback and Trevor Taylor (the Kortrijk Percussion Project, also out on FMR)."

After studying sculpture at the Brighton College of Art & Design he went to the CAT in Newcastle (now the Newcastle University) where he graduated in Light Music (nowadays called jazz). Several years later, whilst visiting friends and playing concerts in Brussels (1988), he discovered that the Brussels Conservatory was opening a new jazz section and decided to follow the courses -4 years- given by Belgian musicians such as Steve Houben, Jean Louis Rassinfosse and Bruno Castellucci, ending up with a first prize in saxophone and a diploma in Jazz Studies.

Whilst at the Brussels Conservatory, he naturally became involved in the Brussels jazz scene, playing with many of the local musicians who were heavily centered around two places 'Travers' and 'The Kaai'. These clubs were a central meeting point for jam sessions and in the case of the Kaai more experimental music. It was here that Joe was able to meet and play with such players as, Hein Van De Geyn, Eric Legnini, Phillip Aerts, Bo Vanderwerf, Sebastiaan De Krom. During that period he also studied with John Roucco, one of the father figures of modern saxophone in Belgium and Holland.

After the Conservatory, Joe started playing with many different groups -jazz group Francois Decamps 'Hamp Digs Ham', local brass band 'Combo Belge', blues-soul group 'Odex Protocole' (see projects page for more info), punk-jazz group (with Geoff Leigh of Henry Cow), 'The Morton Fork Gang', and the m-base influenced Thomas & Co, formed by actor/singer Olivier Thomas around the rhythm section of Aka Moon (CDs include: 'Singulier des Pluriels' and 'Le Second Soufle De Josaphat') and the collective trio 'The Jazz Project', which played in residency at the Brussels 'Phil's Bar' for two years.

He has also played (or been involved) more recently with many groups. Some of these are : The Wrong Object, Marc Lelangue's Heavy Muffalettas, Eric Fusillier 4tet, PHP, Abdeli, Valve (featuring Bai Kamara jnr), Chris Menten's Jazz Van, and theatre group with Josse De Pauw, Jan Kuijken, Peter Vandenberghe, Pierre Vervloesem, Eric Thielemans and Angelique Willkie in Liefde.

He also studied Arabic music on the ney with Hamid Al Basri - one of the oldest and most respected teachers of Arabic music in Europe. This led to Joe spending more time playing the Arabic ney in the classical music ensemble based at the 'Centre Culturel Arabe'. He also became involved in the Jewish klezmer rock group 'Yiddish Tantz Rivayvele' (CD: Le Monde est un Village - Radio Nomade Vol 4. RTBF productions). These experiences eventually led to the creation of Joe's own group Al-Orkesta.

Joe also studied with Charlie Banacos until his untimely death in 2009. Following these courses kept new ideas and concepts developing in his playing, and at the same time helped maintain a certain discipline for practice routines.

In recent years Joe has spent more time developing improvised music projects such as OPen Source with Hugo Antunes, Augusto Pirroda and Jakob Warembol developing true collective in a group format. Joe has also been spending much time study electro acoustic composition, working with Roald Baudoux on a project known as The Man with the Glass Nose. This project develops the use of sound manipulation with live performance using Max/MSP and Pure Data along with live instruments and voice and also points to a new direction for possible perormance projects. Joe has been following workshops at the Mons University section known as Creactif-Numediart working on developing 'Pure Data' together with live music performance.

As a way of developing (and researching) his interest in the historical, anthropological and scientific aspects of music, Joe returned to university in 2012 to study an MA in musicology at the Catholic University of Louvain. He is specializing in the development of computers in music, archeoacoustics and the history of noise through the ages .... among other things!"

"Tatsuya Yoshida, born in Kitakami, Iwate is a Japanese musician; drummer and composer who is the only consistent member of the renowned progressive rock duo Ruins, as well as Koenji Hyakkei. He is also a member of the progressive rock trios Korekyojinn and Daimonji. Outside his own groups, Yoshida is renowned for his tenure as drummer in the indie progressive group YBO2, a band also featuring guitarist KK Null, whom he also joins in the current line up of Zeni Geva and he has played drums in a late edition of Samla Mammas Manna. He has been cited as "[the] indisputable master drummer of the Japanese underground". Along with his participation in bands, he has also released several solo recordings."

A Spanish guitarist and composer, Ángel Ontalva is known for his work with the band October Equus and his solo projects, blending elements of progressive rock, jazz, and world music.

"Emmanuel Cremer, cellist, leads an activity of improviser that allowed him to perform on many European and American scenes. Notably with Raymond Boni, Joe McPhee, the Méandres group, Manuchello septet, Famoudou Don Moye (Art Ensemble of Chicago), Jean-Marc Montera, clarinetist Isabelle Duthoit, or Barre Phillips (in all Emir). Studied composition and arrangement at the University of Montreal led him to work for the theater (the mezzanine, Paris), film music (13 Tzameti, Mk2), the Blue Note label with Troublemakers and orchestra Sofia Symphony (album Express way, Blue Note-EMI).
