Fasten your safety belts....this is possibly the most intense experimental rock album ever made, hurtling at light speed through as many riffs, offbeat chord changes and impossible vocal lines as can be crammed into a CD. It takes the shape of a song cycle which peers into the further reaches of scientific theory, dealing with amongst other things, chaos theory, the mysteries of quantum physics, black holes and the formation of the galaxies. It's the most recent in a series of albums, by 'Art Bears' (1978), 'News From Babel' (1984) and 'Domestic Stories' (1992), where Cutler's lyrics were set by Fred Frith, Lindsay Cooper and Lutz Glandien. Here contemporary classical composer Tickmayer has been let loose on Cutler's dense, haiku like meditations, and has responded with a furious single-mindedness.

It's experimental rock gone mad, taken to wild extremes; there are some truly terrifying bouts of instrumental virtuosity, unison lines which in their impossible trajectories try to outdo the laws of physics. There are funky grooves that start up and are immediately displaced or cut across, and all manner of experiments with meter, genre, context and added ambient sound. The impact is intensified by Bob Drake's in-your-face production, where sounds are hurled at the speakers like lumps of concrete.

Tickmayer keeps an overall through line to the composition, which is always logical even when at its most intense and unpredictable. Occasional points of rest from the onslaught are provided beautiful through-composed quiet passages, reminiscent of the Estonian composer Arvo Part. Amy Denio, who sang with Curlew and The Nudes, provides the lone human voice, while all hell is let loose around her.
