The Festival International de Musique Actuelle de Victoriaville (FIMAV) will present the 38th edition of its incredible concert series in Victoriaville, Quebec from May 16 to May 22. Since 1987 the record label Les Disques VICTO has documented the finest concerts from their festival series, releasing 134 albums to date.

To celebrate the label's 35th year we've partnered with Victo's Productions Plateforme Inc., to offer 50 albums from the Victo catalog at a special savings over their $15.95 retail price:

Two strings, sax, bass and percussion from the free improvising chamber jazz quintet of Mia Dyberg on alto saxophone, Ernesto Rodrigues on viola, Guilherme Rodrigues on cello, Johan Moir on double bass and Jose Oliveira on percussion, in an interactive and dynamic live performance recorded in 2018 during the CreativeFest XII at O'Culto da Ajuda, in Lisbon, Portugal.

"March" refers to the foundation of repurposed march rhythms NY drummer Tomas Fujiwara employs for the compositions in his second release with his Triple Double sextet, actually two trumpet-guitar-drum trios brilliantly interacting, with fellow drummer Gerald Cleaver, both Mary Halvorson & Brandon Seabrook on guitar and Taylor Ho Bynum on cornet & Ralph Alessi on trumpet.

Recording at Studio CCAM Scene Nationale de Vandaeuvre-les-Nancy in France, the freely improvising duo of contemporary saxophonist Violaine Gestalder and double bassist Louis-Michel Marion approach the five improvisations on Marges with an ear to patient sonic interaction through extended and unusual techniques on their instruments.

Succinct and diverse free jazz collective improvisations recorded in the studio in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico while multi-instrumentalist Frode Gjerstad, here on alto saxophone, clarinet & flute, was touring through South America, joined by Mexican double bassist Itzam Can and Swiss drummer Gabriel Lauber to capture these ten excellent conversations.
