Artist Biographies
• Show Bio for Patrizia Oliva Patrizia Oliva: "I'm a singer, autor, improviser of experimental music that crosses electronics, electro-acoustic, free jazz and performing arts. Since 2003 I began to perform with the name of Madame P. I mostly use the voice as the main source of my music, along with several electronic instruments, bawu flute, objects. I work on the radical and experimental music side, uncompromising, my search is not standardized. What leads me to make music today is to try to be conscious expression of the cosmos. In 1998, after a trip in San Francisco, where I was close to various experimental musicians, back to Italy I started to play bass and gave name Allun to a performative 4tet female group, then I started different collaborations with different musicians. In those years I have worked with the musician Andrea Marutti from the label Aferecords.I organized shows in my home art/space called Lab12, north of Italy, where I recorded and organized many concerts from electronic to experimental music, improvised music to folk music. In May 2007 I gave life to a duo named Camusi along with the drummer and musician Stefano Giust; he also run a label called Setola di Maiale. Our first and only self-titled full-album was released on April 2007 and it was recorded at Lab12. Today, Camusi is a project totally identified with the performative act of the concert. In 2008 a new trio called Gravida born, an improvising psichedelic/noise female trio, with Maryclare Brzytwa (USA) on flute, piano, voice, eletronics, laptop, IOIOI on electric guitar, voice and electronics. We had recorded our first album on Incisioni Rupestri and, on January 2010 a second album come up from Setola di Maiale, it's a special edition with two guest, Konoko Nishi a japanese koto player and Stefano Giust on objects and voice. In 2010 my track "Blue" from the album Arberia went on a movie "This Moment is not the Same", a film documentary about arts by Marion Neumann, 98 min., Werner Penzel Filmproduktion München. In the autumn of the same year, I create a blog named Tone Um. In this page I want to show my research in field-recordings. Gamra is my latest quartet with Paed Conca (CH) on clarinet and electric bass, Eugenio Sanna on electric guitar and Stefano Giust on drums: our music is landed in the field of improvised and contemporary music. We have a record out on Setola di Maiale, published in 2011 and the second one called "Pow" out on 2016 by Setola di Maiale. Memento Mari it was a collaboration I did in 2012, a multimedia project directed by Patrizia Lugo. In 2012 I attended with two of my music pieces in the movie under the name of Hazor directed by Miro Mastropasqua. This film was recently awarded in 6 different countries in the world. In 2013 I was part of a vocal ensemble acqua sfocata utilità del fuoco ed altre risposte concentriche directed by Alessandro Bosetti, a 5 hours live performance at Spazio O, in Milan. In December 2013 I was part with Camusi, at the Hanoi New Music Festival, very first festival of new music in Vietnam, incredible experience shared with many different musicians from Vietnam, Danmark, Germany, Sweden. Consolidated in 2014, but started the year before, it's my collaboration with the radio broadcast program named Curved Radio - hosted on 2SER 107,3FM, an Australian radio based in Sydney - led by Gayle Austin. After a concert in Milano at Moonshine, I start a collaboration with the guitarist Alessandra Novaga, also I start to be involved in a very unique orchestra called TAI-NO ORCHESTRA, a large Orchestra with so many interesting artists, musicians, video makers. In the past I woks as a singer and composer for and with the dance/circus company blucinQue/Cirko Vertigo, based in Grugliasco, Torino. This collaboration start in 2015 to the 2018. In 2018 I composed the music for the short film Memoria Data, 12″, directed by the filmaker Lori Felker, Chicago. The film it was commisioned by Media Mixer Chicago, Lab80, Cinescatti Italy.
