"Canadian musician Lee Noyes (born in 1977) lived in New Zealand from the mid-1990s to the 2000s and subsequently moved to Sweden, where he continues his work on the improvised/experimental music scene, playing electronics, percussion and other instruments.

American guitarist Barry Chabala (born in 1961) has released numerous recordings on improvised/experimental music labels such as Erstwhile Records, winds measure recordings, and Another Timbre. Noyes and Chabala have been working together since 2006, releasing several CDs. This album is the latest product of their collaboration.

"The Lightgiver" is made up of four parts. In the performance, Noyes and Chabala used a symbol from the I Ching and a quotation from the French writer Albert Camus as a sort of score. Noyes' instruments were piano, inside-piano, feedback piano, InputLoop sampler, and percussion, while Chabala played piano, prepared piano, felt piano, acoustic and electric guitars, and objects."-Ftarri

"Lee Noyes (b. 1977) I am an improvising musician working with feedback-electronics, percussion, sampling and strings. A former resident of Dunedin NZ, I was from mid-1990's until 2011 an active participant in the New Zealand experimental music scene. Since then I have been based in Gothenburg, Sweden where I currently hold permanent Artist in Residence at the Elementstudio for electroacoustic and *other* musics."

"Guitarist/improvisor Barry Chabala, born of the New Jersey bar scene, is influenced as much by classic rock as he is by modern classical, free improvisation and experimental music. The goal - to blend it all into a personal, creative voice. Barry has presented lectures on graphic scores & improvisation for Bowerbird of Philadelphia, performed numerous compositions from the Wandelweiser collective throughout the United States, and has recorded for labels including Confront, Gravity Wave, Another Timbre, Erstwhile and his own imprint Roeba Records."
