In a live set at Amsterdam's club & workspace Splendor, Argentinian tenor/sopranino explorer Ada Rave and Polish pianist Marta Warelis shape an intimate but volatile dialogue, fusing air, resonance, clusters, and melody into patient arcs that bloom from microscopic detail to surging release, a great example of the city's improvising community at their most attentive and fearless.

"Ada Rave and Marta Warelis, two luminaries of Amsterdam's improvised music scene, unite on Peel/Mondo to craft a compelling dialogue between saxophone and piano. Rave, an Argentinian saxophonist renowned for her bold tenor sound and innovative techniques, joins forces with Warelis, a Polish pianist celebrated for her sonic versatility and explorations of the piano's timbral possibilities."-Relative Pitch
Amsterdam-based improvisers Ada Rave (Argentina) and Marta Warelis (Poland) meet in a bare-bones duo of saxophones and piano, recorded live at Splendor on June 3, 2024. Rave's practice blends classic tenor language with multiphonics, breath/noise articulations, and a bold narrative sense; Warelis is an "instant composing" pianist who pivots between inside-keyboard color and resonant lyricism.
On Peel/Mondo, their exchanges move from tensile, pointillist interplay to surging, modal gusts, with space as a third voice, with a timbral curiosity where diverging paths cohere into a persuasive journey. Their dialogue exploits both the piano's extended palette and Rave's sopranino/tenor contrasts, a great example of the current Amsterdam scene's cross-border energy.
