"Pieces for solo double bass and double bass and electric guitar."-Confront
Recorded at Øra Studio in Trondheim, Norway (engineered by Karre Laastad and mastered by Lasse Marhaug), this two-CD set presents works for solo and duo instrumentation: double bass solo (Duch) and electric guitar paired with double bass (Pisaro & Duch).
In keeping with Pisaro's longstanding affinity for quiet, patiently evolving sound worlds and for collaboration, the music here favours sustained focus, sparse gesture, and the attentive interplay of minimal materials. The electric guitar and double bass engage not in virtuosic display but in the subtle negotiation of time, timbre, and space.
Rather than dramatic shifts, the discs reward the listener with incremental change: a plucked string's faint sustain, the hush of an extended bow, the careful attenuation of resonance. While the duo format invites interaction, the overall sense remains one of internal listening - how the bass's low overtone field meets the guitar's soft micro-movements, how silence becomes structural, how activity emerges from stillness.
For those steeped in the aesthetic of the Wandelweiser Collective or other reductionist minimalisms, this album offers a refined continuation of those concerns - not flashy, but intensely present, inviting concentration and patience.
