"Leila Bordreuil is a Brooklyn based cellist, composer and sound artist from Aix-en-Provence, France. Her cello playing is often improvised, and mainly focuses on texture variations and a collage of phantom overtones and pitched utterances. Through an original vocabulary of extended techniques, preparations, and imaginative amplification methods, her instrument is used as an abstract resonant body to challenge conventional cello practice. Her composed works draw from a similar texture-based musical aesthetic, but also focus on the relationship between sound and space. In her site-specific electro-acoustic compositions, architecture is the foundation of the piece and musicality arises from an organized spacialization of sound. Since moving to Brooklyn in 2012, Leila has maintained an active concert schedule performing with Marina Rosenfeld, Anthony Coleman, Tamio Shiraishi, Chris Corsano, Eli Keszler, Tom Chiu (Flux Quartet), Richard Teitlebaum (Musica Elettronica Viva), Peter Evans, Richard Garet, Weasel Walter, Chris Pitsiokos, Lea Bertucci, and Michael Foster among many others. Notable venues where she has performed include the Whitney Museum, The Kitchen, Issue Project Room, Roulette, The Stone, Moma Ps1, the Performa Biennale, Pioneer Works and the Knockdown Center."-Leila Bordreuil website

His current ensembles include duos with cellist Leila Bordreuil, percussionist Ben Bennett, poet/vocalist Lydia Lunch, vocalist Anais Maviel, Richard Kamerman, The Ghost (with Henry Fraser & Connor Baker), Barker Trio (with Tim Dahl, James Ilgenfritz, & Andrew Barker), While We Still Have Bodies (with Sean Ali, Ben Gerstein, & Flin van Hemmen), Weasel Walter Large Ensemble, and BDM (with Ben Bennett and David Grollman).
