"Daniel Carter (born December 28, 1945, in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania) is an American experimental saxophone, flute, clarinet, and trumpet player active mainly in New York City since the early 1970s.

Carter is a prolific performer and has recorded or performed with William Parker, Federico Ughi, DJ Logic, Thurston Moore, Yo La Tengo, Sun Ra, Cecil Taylor, Sonic Youth, scientist/musician Matthew Putman, Cooper-Moore, Sam Rivers, David S. Ware, Yoko Ono, Living Colour, Medensky Martin and Wood and Jaco Pastorius among others. He is a member of the cooperative free jazz groups TEST and Other Dimensions In Music."

"Claire de Brunner first played the bassoon at the age of 14, and was soon awarded a scholarship to study with the principal bassoonist of the NY Philharmonic and to attend the Dalcroze School of Music. She later attended the High School of Music and Art where she earned a scholarship to study at North Carolina School of the Arts. She went on to study with Stephen Maxym at the Manhattan School of Music and played in various orchestras and chamber ensembles before deciding to venture beyond the classical arena.

In the 1980s she answered an ad in the Village Voice, which called for a musician who loved Kafka, Captain Beefheart and Lennie Tristano, having no idea who the latter two were at that time, and shortly thereafter became a founding member of 101 Crustaceans, an integral band of the post-punk era in NYC. She later joined Church of Betty, another seminal band at that time. She played at the major venues of the era including the Knitting Factory, Sidewalk Café, Pyramid, ABC No Rio, Dixon Place, CBGB's and has recorded CDs with both bands.

In the early 90s, having been encouraged to build on her ability to improvise, she studied jazz improvisation with saxophonist Lee Konitz and pianist Connie Crothers. She found herself, in effect, having to learn an entirely new instrument and it was nearly a decade before she began to feel a sense of mastery in the genre.

She has since played with many notable musicians including Ras Moshe, Ed Pastorini, Carol Liebowitz, Francois Grillot, Daniel Carter, Matt Lavelle, Chris Rael, Oren Bloedow, Ratzo Harris, Blaise Siwula, Deep Singh, Adam Caine, Pete Drungle, Tom Zlabinger, Anders Nilsson, Vlada Tomova and Rima Fand, to name a few.

In 2010 she co-produced the CD Macroscopia, which was released on the Metier label and features a quartet comprised of New York free jazz musicians including Daniel Carter.

She continues to play at music venues in NY such as The Firehouse Space, BAMcafe, Ibeam, Barbes, Issue Project Room, Goodbye Blue Monday and has several recording projects in the works.

While her musical development is varied, it reflects the natural outgrowth of the ongoing pursuit and exploration of her deepest passion."

"Alto Saxophonist Nick Lyons has been called "one of the most important and original alto saxophonists on the improvisation scene" (Manhattan Users Guide, 2015) and "a young jazzer to watch" (Time Out-NY). His collaborations, based around spontaneously improvised music, have included performing with guitarist Adam Caine, pianists Connie Crothers and Carol Liebowitz. Lyons leads various trios which have included drummers Roger Mancuso and John Wagner and bassists Adam Lane, Hilliard Greene, and Ratzo Harris. Of his 2009 solo performance at The Stone (a pick in Time Out-NY), Mark Weber commented on "his ability to go inside himself and find meaningful lyric inventions, curling out line upon line," adding that the concert was "magnificent."

In 2015 Nick was a featured guest on WKCR's "Out to Lunch," performed in Berlin at clubs A-Trane and B-Flat and appeared on Cheryl Richards's CD "If Not For You" on New Artists Records.

He has been a regular performer in concert series presented by Arts for Art, the NYC fixture which produces the annual Vision Festival.

He has recently performed in groups led by tenor saxophonist Jimmy Halperin (who cited Lyons as one of his favorite young musicians in New York City, JazzTokyo.org), Connie Crothers (The Stone), pianist Harvey Diamond (Boston area), and Aaron Johnson (Dizzy's Club); and he has led groups with pianist Kazzrie Jaxen and bassist Ken Filiano, and pianist Virg Dzurinko, trumpeter Ryan Messina, and drummer Federico Ughi.

Originally from New York City and raised in Northern New Jersey, he has now lived in Brooklyn since 2005.

"Jeff Snyder (b.1978) is a composer, improviser and instrument-designer living in Princeton, New Jersey, and active in the New York City area.

As founder and lead designer of Snyderphonics, Jeff designs and builds unusual electronic musical instruments. His creations include the Manta, which is played by over 150 musicians around the world; the JD-1 Keyboard/Sequencer, which was commissioned as a specialty controller for Buchla synthesizers; and the custom analog modular synthesizer on which he regularly performs.

Jeff is a member of experimental electronic duo exclusiveOr, avant jazz group The Federico Ughi Quartet , improvisatory noise trio The Mizries, and laptop ensemble Sideband. He fronts the band Owen Lake and the Tragic Loves as his electro-country alter-ego, Owen Lake. He also composes alternate-reality Early Music for an ensemble of his invented instruments.

In 2009, Jeff co-founded an experimental music record label, Carrier Records , which continues to release strange and exciting experimental music. In 2011, he received a doctorate with distinction in Music Composition from Columbia University. He currently is the Director of Electronic Music at Princeton University, and the Director of PLOrk , the Princeton Laptop Orchestra."

His recent chamber works include a multi-media chamber opera "Ode To Jackeen" based on text by Kenneth Patchen which was championed by Ensemble Sans Maitre at the Firehouse Space and FiveMyles gallery, "FOAMINGS" for violin, viola and bass flute composed for andPlay + Martha Cargo as part of their "written for" commission series, and settings of poems by Emily Skillings performance by Charlotte Mundy/Jordan Dodson duo for a NYC residency.

In late 2015 he co-created a collaborative sound, video and performance installation along with violist Joanna Mattrey and video artist Brooke Herr entitled "Connections" based on a piece by Karlheinz Stockhausen which was realized at MoMa Ps1 Printshop as part of the ALL GOLD residency.

He has collaborated with dancers and choreographers, providing scores for Sarah AO Rosner and the AOMC at HERE arts center for AOMC's dance performance 'barrish', Koryn Wicks' TRIPD at the Conservatoire Dramatique of Montreal, and AnA Collaborations at the Gibney Dance: Agnes Varis Performing Arts Center.

Jonah has presented chamber music as part of Vicky Chow's 'Contagious Sounds' series at both the Gershwin Hotel and Cornelia Street Cafe, featuring "Welts" for the Heavy Hands Doublebass Quartet and "Ode To Jackeen" for Ensemble Sans Maître.

Work in multimedia theater has included sound scores, and original compositions for playwright/puppeteer/visual artist Claire Moodey for the interdisciplinary works Spectral Findings and at Dixon Place, the Bushwick Starr and Theater for the New City.

Jonah's piece "ARRAYS" for alto flute and electronics was performed by Martha Cargo at Abrons Arts Center as part of the Electroacoustic Music Festival in 2014."

"Zachary Swanson is a versatile bassist performing music in an array of styles, with focus on improvised, experimental, original and folk music. Using gut strings and a personalized technique, Zachary has developed a conception of the double bass that heightens the integrity of various musical environments; from playing adventurous improvised music to backing singer-songwriters.

In the summer of 2018, Swanson toured Italy and appeared at the Sile Jazz Festival with guitarist Nico Soffiato for their duo project, Dogwood, promoting their album 'Hecate's Hounds' on the Italian label nusica.org. Dogwood features an introspective approach to composition and improvised music with focus on exploring space and timbre. In March of 2019, the band Harbinger with Jarvis Earnshaw and Daniel Carter released their self-titled debut album. The music occupies a unique realm, with Earnshaw on sitar, tape-delay, and voice, Carter on a rotating cast of wind instruments, and Swanson on double bass. He has also appeared on Gaucimusic records as part of the 'Live At The Bushwick Series' releases. In March of 2020, 577 Records will be releasing 'Astroturf Noise', a trio with Sam Day Harmet on mandolin and Sana Nagano on violin. This group explores the intersection between free improvisation and bluegrass. In January of 2020, The Nick Horner Family self-released the album 'Sans Sebastienne' with Swanson on electric bass.

Zachary is currently working on a forthcoming duo album with violinist Tom Swafford, and an improvised trio record with saxophonist Derrick Michaels and drummer Dalius Naujo, among being active in many other projects in the greater New York area.

Swanson has appeared on albums released by 577 Records (Astroturf Noise, Federico Ughi Quartet's Heart Talk and The Listening Group), pfMentum (Sanctuary by Trumpets and Basses), Gaucimusic (Live At The Bushwick Series with Aron Namenwirth, Daniel Carter and Joe Hertenstein) and nusica.org (Dogwood's Hecate's Hounds). Zachary has performed at series' and festivals such as the Red Hook Jazz Festival with Tomchess' Moonship Quartet, the Inside Out music series at Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, the 577 Forward Festival, AE Randolph Presents, and is a regular performer at the Bushwick Improvised Music Series. He has also appeared at the Great Eastern Music Festival in Montauk, Falcon Ridge, Take me to the River, and Charm City Folk and Bluegrass Festival backing folk and Americana artists such as Letitia VanSant, He-Bird She-Bird, Greg Cornell, and Pluck & Rail.

As an educator, Zachary has visited McDaniel College and Towson University to give a improvisation workshops with Derrick Michaels, Stelios Mihas and Jon Seligman. He has also given performances and hosted Q&A's at Marlboro College in duo with vocalist Amanda Bloom, a duo with Rodney "Godfather Don" Champman, and again with the ensemble No Land Bands, a project that combines jazz and Syrian music to promote awareness of the Syrian refugee crisis.

Zachary began his bass studies at the age of 6 in his home state of Massachusetts, and is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University. He can be seen performing regularly throughout New York City and beyond."

"Federico Ughi is a drummer and composer based in New York. Federico Ughi's music infuses the New York avant-garde sound with a sense of melody inspired by the Italian classical and folk traditions of his childhood in Rome. Ornette Coleman has been a major influence for Federico as well as a mentor.

Born in Rome, Italy Federico relocated to London at age 21 to play music, from there moving to New York in 2000 again to play music. He has been based in Brooklyn, NY ever since.

He has performed or recorded with Daniel Carter, William Parker, The Cinematic Orchestra, Blue Foundation among others. Federico Ughi has performed throughout Italy, the UK, France, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Slovenia, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Russia, Lithuania, China, Mexico, Canada and the US."
