• Show Bio for Mia Dyberg "Mia Dyberg (b, 1986) is a Danish saxophonist, improviser and composer currently residing in Berlin, Germany, where she works as a freelance musician. Performing with improv-musicians such as Clayton Thomas, Dag Magnus Narvesen, Casey Moir and Tobias Delius. Her ability to combine sound experiments with melancholy in a unique melodic expression, makes her one of the new exciting voices on the European jazz scene. She is active project leader & co-founder of the international improvisers collective The Community. Mia is a part of the Copenhagen jazz/improv. scene and holds a Master Diploma in Music '2015 from the Conservatory of Copenhagen. She grew up in the Swedish archipelago and her both wild and impressionistic music is often affected by grand nature. But there is also a pulse of the city. The last couple of years she has made roots on the international scene as a leader of projects as: Mia Dyberg Trio, Dyberg 4 Ra, Kovacs & Dyberg, Christian Balvig/Mia Dyberg feat. Clayton Thomas[AU] in Germany, Sweden, Poland, and Egypt. She also participates in different ad hoc projects for example in New York, Berlin and Stockholm with musicians as Herb Robertson[US], Niklas Barnö [SE] Oscar Noriega[US] og Michael Evans[US]. Her music has been performed internationally by renowned soloists and ensembles and released on the Squeaky Kate and squib-box labels. She has recently been awarded a PhD at the Royal Academy of Music, where she explored the physicality of instrumental performance in chamber music, and with support from the Academy, received private tuition from Rebecca Saunders. Elo is co-director of clapTON ensemble and with composer-improviser Dave Maric forms the free improvisation duo Vicious Circus whose debut album Troglodytes Troglodytes was released to critical acclaim in 2014." ^ Hide Bio for Elo Masing • Show Bio for Ernesto Rodrigues "He has been playing the violin for 30 years and in that time has played all genres of music ranging from contemporary music to free jazz and improvised music, live and in the studio. His main interest shifted towards contemporary improvised and composed music. The relationship with his instruments is focused in sonic and textural elements. Electronic music was an early influence on his approach to violin playing, which challenges traditional romantic concepts of the violin/viola through use of preparations and micro tuning. Active in different settings on the Portuguese scene for free improvised music, both as a collaborator and in leading his own groups. Music for Dance, Cinema, Video and Performance. In 1999 joined Conservatório Nacional de Música de Lisboa to study classical and music theory and in the current year recorded his first album - Multiples - with Ernesto Rodrigues and José Oliveira out on Creative Sources Recordings. Apart from work in music ensembles ranging for contemporary classical to free improvisation, also works with live music poetry, theatre and film-music. After lengthy residency in Lisboa, (1988-2016) moved to Berlin and has been active as composer and improviser in the scene. He focuses his efforts on free improv and other creative musics. With over two dozen albums to his credit, he is mostly known for the projects he is a leader, or co-leader to, namely MOONBOW, MOUNT MEANDER, IL SOGNO, or FREE SPIRITUAL, as well his solo double bass work, and free improv encounters with acclaimed musicians. Tomo has been very fortunate to perform with the greats like John Tchicai, Andrew D'Angelo, Lotte Anker, Mat Maneri, Adam Rudolph, Rasul Siddik, P.O. Jørgens, Frank Gratkowski, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Sun Araw, Mikołaj Trzaska, Michael Blake, Alex Zhang Hungtai, Tanya Kalmanovitch, Jacob Anderskov, Kresten Osgood, Hugh Steinmetz, Søren Kjaergaard, Torben Snekkested, Jesper Zeuthen, and many others. Since 2015 together with filmmaker Malwa Grabowska aka Hipermania, Tomo has been working on a documentary film about the legendary double bass player from New York William Parker. The film is in production. In 2017 together with Hipermania, Tomo has also founded an independent record label and publishing house Gotta Let It Out.
