Descriptions, Reviews, &c.

The third album together for the Chicago trio led by drummer Charles Rumback with pianist Jim Baker and bassist John Tate is a sublimely melodic affair. All three bring compositions to the recording session, each handled with subtle lyricism and tuneful playing, with an underpinning of solid strength and power. Rumback's astute interactions and versatile rhythmic interplay bring out the best in all three, and his affinity with bassist John Tate makes a reliable platform over which Jim Baker absolutely shines. Through seven tracks the trio never fails to bring passion and warmth to their playing that's never sentimental or cloying; simply lovely.

Also available on vinyl LP.
