"Leonardo Genovese was born in Venado Tuerto, Argentina in 1979. After some years of studying classical piano at the National University of Rosario as well as private lessons in contemporary music, he moved to Boston in 2001. He started his career at Berklee College of Music where he studied with Danilo Perez, Joanne Brackeen and Frank Carlberg, among others. Leo graduated as a Professional Music Major in 2003 and has been constantly performing and recording with talented musicians such us Hal Crook, Darren Barrett, George Garzone, Francisco Mela, Joe Lovano, Bob Gulloti, Phil Grenadier, Dave Santoro, Chris Cheek, Michael Janisch and Ben Monder. In 2004, he released his first solo album entitled Haikus II signed by Spanish label Fresh Sound Records. He also performs regularly with the Esperanza Spalding Group, the Mike Tucker Quartet, Planet Safety (w/Bob Gullotti and Dave Zinno), Wayne Shorter Group and Jack Dejohnette.

When he's not touring with Spalding, Genovese - who is currently based in New York - also plays with a loosely assembled group called the Chromatic Gauchos, whose core membership includes Bob Gulloti, Dan Blake and John Lockwood. This threesome, along with Spalding and percussionist Sergio Miranda, appears prominently on Seeds. While Genovese is still early on his career arc, he hopes that his music could eventually be more than just a source of entertainment, but also a force for change in a world that is troubled by economic, social and political challenges. "I would like it to go somewhere positive, somewhere helpful," he says. "I would like for people to really gain something worthwhile from it. There are so many people around the word in need. Most of us never realize it, because most of us have the basic necessities and much more. But some people - many people - have very little."

He adds: "I want to make people more aware of the many different circumstances - and sometimes difficult circumstances - that other people face every day. A lot of it has to do with having the right intention. Music is a lot like people in that way. If it comes from a good place, it's more likely to bear good fruit." "

"With five albums in different formats under his belt, numerous awards and nominations from the most varied local media and an uninterrupted activity as a composer, arranger and performer, Mariano Otero is one of the key figures of the new jazz in Argentina. He was born in the neighbourhood of Avellaneda in 1976. The son of a musician, he took lessons in piano and guitar and later on in electric bass, double bass and violoncello with some of the most prestigious teachers in Buenos Aires. He studied at the Escuela de Música Popular de Avellaneda, and afterwards graduated from the Escuela de Música Contemporánea. He won a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in Boston and another one to the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. In New York he took lessons with Scott Colley, Mark Hellias and Drew Gress.

Mariano has appeared throughout the country with his different ensembles: a quintet, a septet, his Big Band and, at present, a sextet with which he's preparing his latest album. With his quintet he toured New York and Miami and appeared at the Jazz Festival in Punta del Este. He had the honour of being guest artist at Dave Holland's shows in Buenos Aires.In 2007, the Jazz Festival of the city of Rosario chose him as composer in residence to work with the students of the local school. In 2008, the Buenos Aires Jazz Festival commissioned him with the composition and orchestration of a repertoire paying tribute to guitarist Walter Malosetti, Mariano's mentor and teacher, a task for which he set up a nonet. Such work was recorded in an album to be presented in this year's edition of the Festival. Shortly ago, he was summoned by Sony BMG to produce and arrange singer Iván Noble's new album. In addition, he recorded the soundtrack for the upcoming film Sangre del Pacífico."

"Sergio Verdinelli (n. Buenos Aires , December 12, 1976) is a musician, drummer and teacher Argentine -oriented jazz and rock, which played in the bands of Fito Paez , Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas and Luis Alberto Spinetta . He was born on December 12, 1975 and began his drum studies at the age of 10. In his adolescence he had Pepi Taveira as a teacher and later he trained in harmony and composition with Ernesto Jodos , Mono Fontana and Enrique Norris , among others. Throughout his career he has participated in very varied musical projects, including rock, jazz and Argentine folklore.

Since 2002 he has led his own musical project accompanied by various musicians among which are Ernesto Jodos, Patricio Carposi, Mariano Otero, Juan Pablo Arredondo and Rodrigo Domínguez. He has recorded two albums: Primo (Buri, 2005) and Sicomoro (Buri, 2009).

From 2004 onwards he was a member of Luis Alberto Spinetta's group. He accompanied Fito Páez for 3 years and was part of the Illia Kuryaki from 1991 to 1995 and 1997 to 2000. He currently works on different projects with Pepi Taveira, Rodrigo Domínguez, Juan Cruz de Urquiza , Ernesto Jodos , Mariano Otero, Luis Natch , Hernán Merlo , Ramiro Flores, Hernán Jacinto, Diego Urbano, Patricio Carpossi and Richard Nant among others. In the last edition of the Buenos Aires Jazz Festival, in December 2009, he accompanied the outstanding guitarist Steve Cárdenas. He also participated in various musical projects with musicians such as Emmanuel Horvilleur , Dante Spinetta ,Guillermo Klein , Enrique Norris , Juan Carlos Baglietto , Marcelo Outfraind, Hernán Jacinto, Mariana Baraj. It was part of the last work of the double bass player Hernán Merlo "Consin", published by the prestigious Spanish label Fresh Sound.

As a teacher he has worked since 2006 as Head of the Chair in the Jazz Technician Career at the "Manuel de Falla" Conservatory of the City of Buenos Aires. He was also part of the School of Contemporary Music of Buenos Aires. In December 2005 he received the "Clarín" Award chosen as "Revelation Jazz Artist". Since 2007 he has been honored with the Grestch Battery Endorseer and since 2000 with that of Istanbul cymbals."
