"Two heavyweights from the wide world of improvised music teaming up together. In the left corner, we find Guro Skumsnes Moe. We know her from her work on the double bass, octobass and electric bass (and vocalist) with such groups as MoE and Sult, collaborator with Lasse Marhaug, and productions for movie and dance performances. In the right corner is Philippe Petit, once working with turntables and occupied with modular electronics these days. His collaborators include Lydia Lunch, Murcof, Mark Cunningham, Cindytalj and many others. As much info as we have on their respective backgrounds, there isn't much about the actual record they recorded together. Moe is on octabass (that's the spelling on Bandcamp), electric bass and voice and Petit on EMS synthi A, turntables and voice. The recordings were made in June 2020. The first of the piece, '..', made me think we landed heavily in the world of improvised music, with a bare synth tone and some voice. But soon enough, the album takes on a much different course. The music snowballs into a heavy mass of sound of thick drones of both the synthesizer and the bass. Somewhere the voice (Moe's more than Petit, I think) returns and creates more weight on the music. Noisy, sure, but that seems not to be the goal of the music. It is something hard to escape. The other long piece is called '...', which I like better. The interaction is more together, more composition than improvisation, I thought. Probably they're not loops, but that's what the music sounds like in the first half. For some reason, this piece consists of two parts, of which the second is a bit more chaotic than the first half; a deliberate contrast, perhaps, but one that works quite well. The music here is not easily accessed by the listener and comes with a threshold of noise involved. Once you cross that level, the music is as beautiful and heavy as a black hole. The short in-between 'Interlude' may serve as a passage between these long movements but can also be ignored as a mere set of small sounds."-Frans de Waard

"Guro Skumsnes Moe (born 1983 in Hedemark, Norway) is a Norwegian Upright bass player, composer and singer. Dance, improvisation, rock, jazz and noise music, are all elements that are important to her expression.

Moe is a bassist and vocalist that has managed to make her mark on the Norwegian music scenes, both on and off stage. She has her musical background from the Music conservatory in Kristiansand and the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, where she graduated 2007, she has distinguished herself as an active performer with wide field of interest on the Oslo's jazz and free impro music scene recent years. She has hosted jam sessions on "Belleville", runs the ÇMumle Vind KompaniÈ together with Yngvild Aspelid, play traditional music together with her sisters Eline and Jenny.

On her debut solo album It Pictures (2011) she collaborates in trio with drummer Sveinar Hoff and guitarist HŒvard Skaset. Kim-Erik Pedersen, Kjetil M¿ster, Lasse Marhaug also appears on selected tunes. The second album Oslo Janus (2013) is a true solo five pieces album. The third album 3 (2014) she again collaborates with HŒvard Skaset, but this time drummer Joakim Heib¿ replaces Sveinar Hoff."

"I studied Electroacoustic music at the CNRR Conservatory where I specialised in multi-channelled diffusion (Acousmatic spatialisation) and Modular Synthesis. Using Buchla System 200, Serge 73/75 and a modified EMS Synthi A analog Synthesizers to create my "Electronic abstractions" and Plastic sound-objects.​Sculpting sound like a craftsman, without restraint or sometimes "on the tip of the hands", I am interested in the importance of the compositional gesture, to favor the live touch without repetitions, by impulse, in a very corporeal way. VISCERALITY !

also play various instruments or devices, though most notably a Prepared Piano-Soundboard + an Electric Psalterion + Hackbrett Cymbalum + Guitars + turntables as well as Theremin + Soline and Roland Fantom G6 synths and computer to build up electronic layers, process acoustic and field recordings.​On top of those, I like to move various glasses, pieces of wood, stones, or percussive objects, as well as taking advantage of vinyl material to fondle released sounds engraved on unique vinyls in order to manipulate them manually on stage.

Relying on electricity/amplification to produce, manipulate, work on sound-material, but trying my best to explore various genres and make sure that each of my albums differs from the previous one, trying to avoid routine and surprise my listeners.

Not musically trained/educated I lie outside the Classical genre but my scores incorporate traditional classical components in a predominantly unconventional manner which recently allowed me to being asked by Iancu Dumitrescu & Ana Maria Avram to join forces as a soloist in their Hyperion Ensemble + being invited by Jean-Paul Dessy (Musiques Nouvelles ensemble) and Raoul Lay (Ensemble Télémaque) to become in charge of electronics/turntables in their ambitious E. C. O. (European Chamber Orchestra) formation comprising of 33 soloists...

Fortunate enough to work with what people call a dream-team of collaborators: joining Lydia Lunch, Murcof, The European Contemporary Orchestra (E.C.O.), Mark Cunningham (MARS), Cindytalk, Orkest De Ereprijs, Audrey Chen, Mia Zabelka, Iancu Dumitrescu's Hyperion Ensemble, Stephen O'Malley, Yannick Barman, PAS or Faust onstage and-or in studio.

Besides I did some recordings with: Eugene Robinson (Oxbow), Edward Ka-Spel (Legendary Pink Dots), Simon Fisher Turner, Kumo, Scott McCloud (Girls Against Boys), Cosey Fanni Tutti (Throbbing Gristle), My Brightest Diamond, Sybarite, Foetus, Pantaleimon, Graham Lewis (Wire), Barry Adamson, Andy Diagram, Scanner, Machinefabriek, Mira Calix, Kammerflimmer Kollektief, Justin K.
