melt, bloom
tremor, transform
and we witness the softness emerging

With an expansive background in American roots, rock, and jazz, Obomsawin carries several music traditions. Mali's debut album Sweet Tooth, has received international acclaim since its release in October of 2022 (Out of Your Head), including rave reviews in The Guardian, JazzTimes, and NPR. A Smithsonian Folkways Recordings artist, she spent the years 2014-2021 touring internationally with beloved folk-rock band Lula Wiles. Beyond the stage Mali is a community organizer and advocate for Indigenous rights, environmental justice and landback. Influenced by free jazz and punk, Magdalena's approach to her instrument playfully confronts tradition and embraces queer experimentalism. Her compositions have been described as an "unpredictable musical journey" (Boston Hassle), both "blissful and beautifully erratic" (Boston Compass), and NPR Music called her guitar tone "wooden, ancient and thick with mystic fuzz." Magdalena presently serves as a faculty member in the Contemporary Musical Arts program at the New England Conservatory. Her expertise has garnered invitations to deliver guest lectures and provide guidance to ensembles at esteemed music institutions across the United States, including Berklee College of Music and Dartmouth College. Magdalena maintains an active performance schedule, spanning North America and Europe, performing at venues such as Jordan Hall, Roulette Intermedium, Bimhuis, and the Banff Centre for the Arts." ^ Hide Bio for Magdalena Abrego • Show Bio for Chuck Roldan "Chuck Roldan has been drumming for over 20 years, spanning genres from symphonic, jazz, gospel, psych, rock, indie, to traditional and modern country. He is also one of the most seen- and recorded drummers in Bloomington of the last 5 years: You may have heard his work with Ladycop, Daesy chain, Jefferson St. Parade Band, Black Acid Arkestra, !Mindparade, Lazer Blades, Austin Lucas, or at Blockhouse Bar's Honkey Tonk Tuesdays." ^ Hide Bio for Chuck Roldan • Show Bio for Colin Fleming "Colin Lester Fleming is a producer, recording engineer, mixer, and drummer. He joined the Q family in 2018, and has built strong working relationships with BMA, NEMA, and Grammy nominated-artists. I love playing live, playing on other people's records, producing, and remotely mixing records that people send me from all over the world at my mixing room at home. I live in Medford Massachusetts with my wife, and daughter. I was born and grew up in the Boston area, the youngest of six kids. I started playing the piano when I was 7 years old and hated it until I was 9 when my mother gave me an offer to quit if I tried the Jazz teacher down the street. From lesson one I was hooked on the concept of improvisation and using music as a form of real expression and communication. I latched on hard and throughout my childhood soaked up any musical opportunity I could get my hands on, studying at the New England Conservatory on Saturdays and being a member of many-a-poorly named high school band. I attended New York University for Jazz performance and, through some friends, met folk superhero Josh Ritter. The timing couldn't have been more lucky for me to hit the road touring with Josh just as I was graduating. This was the beginning of what would become a long term creative and personal relationship with Josh and his entire band, and crew, one that still is a big part of my musical life. After touring for a few years with Josh and some other artists, I fell into producing music mostly out of curiosity and some encouragement from one of my producer heros, Brian Deck. I recorded some instrumental music on an Mbox while abusing every friend I had for audio knowledge. One thing led to another and I started making records. In 2006 I bought an old farmhouse in southern Maine that I intended to use as a music rehearsal, writing, hang spot. But, things escalated rather quickly and before I knew it, it turned into a recording studio, The Great North Sound Society, where I still make most of the records I work on today." ^ Hide Bio for Sam Kassirer
