Descriptions, Reviews, &c.

"I must say that listening to him did me a lot of good. This disc, breaking down its pieces into a succession of songs often sung/declaimed/whispered with a stunning Dadaist humor, interspersed with various sound effects (struck instruments, helicopter takeoff, car starter...), an alphabet book told by children with words that make sense (or not) like zombies, bernique or even mahjong, is a unique gem that certainly makes you laugh, but not only that. It is inhabited by a real musical, literary, poetic ambition... in a word: artistic, and it is all the more delicate and successful on the part of Helene Sage (and her accomplices) as she takes care to hide this dimension under a pile of sonic and musical extravagances."-Stephane Cattaneo, The Jazz Enthusiasts, April 2010

Artist Biographies

"Hélène Sage, an iconoclastic orchestral woman and violin maker, sings, plays the double bass, all the flutes, the saxophone, the bass clarinet, keyboards and a thousand other bizarre objects that she has invented like her reed kettle that she spins above her head, her bow stools, her water percussions, and many other instruments resembling sculptures by Marcel Duchamp. Still, it sounds good!

Hélène Sage has a taste for original timbres as well as the most shaggy playing styles, concentrating on acoustics more than electronics. She is an outstanding improviser and a composer who walks with her feet on the ceiling."-Jean-Jacques Birgé (Drame.org)
