• Show Bio for Steve Davis

Steve Davis, aka S. Standfish Davis. +DOG+ has been a central project of Steve Davis' Love Earth Music label, the noise project formed 1990 in Osaka, later in Massachusetts (and, for a time, Southern California) since 1997.

Davis is a member of the groups +DOG+, Blue, Dogshit, Expando Brain, Intensive Studies, Le Chien Nu, Shit Brothers, and Reality Challenged.

Looking to configure The Leap of Faith ensemble with a 3-horn front line, Boston wind & reed player and Evil Clown label leader David Peck recruited John Fugarino to perform on trumpet, slide trumpet & trombone, and surprisingly, Japanese pianist Keiichi Hashimoto, who also performs on trumpet, cornet & flugelhorn, with cellist Gylnis Lomon filling out the band for this dynamic, extended set.

	Expanse Vacuum Energy (Evil Clown)
In May of 2021 Evil Clown label leader, multi-reedist and percussionist David Peck re-opened his performance space to fully vaccinated musicians, inviting Michael Caglianone on saxophones, Michael Knoblach on percussion, including rattlesnake drums, baskets of rocks, shakers, &c., recording this extended, rich, ruminative and introspective improvisation.

	Wooley, Nate / Daniele Martini / Joao Lobo Legacy of Ashes (Creative Sources)
A free jazz session recorded in Brussells between trumpeter Nate Wooley and half of the Daniele Martini Quartet--saxophonist Martini himself and drummer Joao Lobo--stepping in and out of modal jazz with a contemplative approach, using extended techniques to great effect, Lobo handling the foundation and rhythm in absolutely impressive ways.

	Tetterapadequ Chlopingle (Creative Sources)
The 2nd album for this quartet, with Daniele Martini on saxophones, Giovanni di Domenico on piano, Goncalo Almeida on doublebass, and Joao Lobo on drums, for an album of slowly building free improv starting in a Necks mode and developing into frenetically lyrical passages, a great blend of modern and traditional approaches to free jazz.
